Edge Growth Counseling Massachusetts FAQ

Do you take my insurance or can I submit for reimbursement?

I do not accept insurance at this time. However, if you receive Out of Network (OON) benefits through your insurance coverage, I can offer a receipt with appropriate details for you to request reimbursement from your insurance carrier.

My insurance might still reimburse me for some of our sessions? Tell me more…

After our sessions, I can provide a “Superbill”, which is a detailed receipt designed for an insurance company to review. The rate of reimbursement for an Out of Network provider can vary depending on your insurance. I highly recommend that you contact your insurance plan for details about your coverage and to see if this is a benefit you have. While it’s not the most enjoyable thing to do, a quick phone call can save a lot of annoyance later and help you make the most informed decision for your care. Important questions to ask are:

  • Do I have mental health insurance benefits?

  • Am I eligible for out-of-network reimbursement for mental health services?

  • Do I have a deductible? And if so, how much do I have to pay out of pocket before my insurance will reimburse? Have I met my deductible for this year yet? (Note: a deductible is the amount of money you need to pay out of pocket before the insurance plan will pay)

  • What percentage of the therapist fee will be covered by the insurance company?

  • Is there a limit to the number of sessions that my insurance will cover?

  • Is pre-authorization required before I make an appointment?

  • What is the procedure for requesting reimbursement?

Do we meet over video or in person?

Currently, all sessions are offered through a secure video portal via SimplePractice. As long as you are in Massachusetts and have access to video calls, I am able to provide you therapy. Many of my clients have found it much easier to attend appointments with video sessions.

What can I expect during the free consult call?

After you send me an email, I will reach out to schedule a call during which we will discuss your goals for therapy and if we would be a strong fit.

I take pride in doing good work and helping people reach their goals. If we aren’t the right match or I don’t believe I’m able to provide you with the experience that would be most helpful, I will do my best to provide a referral to a colleague.

How often should we meet?

Research and my clinical experience suggest that weekly therapy works best and typically results in fewer sessions in the long-term compared to every other week or monthly frequencies. That said, I respect your unique needs, goals, and time limitations. Part of our treatment planning will be discussing the recommended frequency and what works best for you.
